Service Description

Join resident artist, Alicia Cobb, for a multiweek art and science workshop to channel your inner artist and study the science behind the art! Each session incorporates art and science methods, exploring the full range of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). Explore the scientific principles behind artistic materials Develop creative problem-solving skills Work toward overcoming fear of failure & trying new things Build self-awareness and emotional expression through art Practice reflection, observation, and experimentation Over the course of the program, students will create their own masterpiece that will be displayed in a gallery at Discovery for a limited special exhibition in winter 2026.  Grades: 5-8 Times: 4:00-6:00pm Dates: Thursday, October 7 - Chemistry and Color Thursday, October 21 - Light and Color Thursday, October 28 - The Brain and Perception Thursday, November 11 - Surface and Materials Thursday, November 18 - Fluid Dynamics Thursday, December 2 - Interpreting Art Sunday, December 13 - Family Showcase/Exhibit Opening Transportation is available to students from Bridgeport Public Schools to the program each Thursday session. Parent/guardian pick up is at 6:00 pm.  A limited number of spots are available for this program. Please confirm you are available for ALL dates and the family showcase before you register. Attendance at all sessions is mandatory.
