@ Discovery: GSK Science in the Summer

GSK Science in the SummerGSK Science in the Summer™ is a is a free science education program sponsored by GSK that helps elementary school children “grow into science.” GSK Science in the Summer™ partners with institutions like The Discovery Museum to bring hands-on science courses to students. This year, Discovery Museum presented Science in the Summer to hundreds of young learners who entered grades 2-4 this fall, and who attended the Bridgeport Lighthouse summer program at three school sites. Lessons covered electricity, circuits, and electromagnets, and offered each student fun and hands-on activities to learn more about these topics. Student and parent feedback both reflected what a unique opportunity this presented for the young learners who participated, and Discovery’s staff hopes to bring back this opportunity during summer 2017. Thanks to GSK, and to AAAS, who administered the national grant program through which Discovery was chosen as a program site.
