We’re bringing back our summer program this year – virtually!

Beginning on June 29, we’ll have week-long hands-on STEAM programming for kids entering grades K-6 consisting of both live virtual programs and off-line STEAM projects to do at home. Young scientists will learn about space exploration, oceanography, paleontology, archaeology, coding & robotics, the science of food, and much, much more!

Virtual program day runs from 9:00am to 3:30pm Monday through Friday, with live interactive sessions on Zoom from 9:00-10:00 and from 2:30-3:30 daily. Discovery educators will be available online from 9:00-3:30 to help students with their interest-driven projects throughout the week. Programs will also include pre-recorded content and templates for off-line activities available for download through Digital Discovery. Each registered family will receive a Digital Discovery account included with program registration.

Open to students entering grades K-6. Space is limited–pre-registration is required. Registration closes at 11:55pm two business days prior to program start.

Virtual program registration is based on a per-family registration. Membership discounts are available.

Upon registration, you will receive paperwork via email detailing the program schedule and providing your account information for Digital Discovery, as well as a materials list for recommended materials for program projects. Optional add-on materials kits are available for purchase on a first-come, first-serve basis for an additional $50.00 per person per program. Kits will be available for curbside pickup the week prior to program start by appointment only.

Programs include:

July 13 @ 9:00 am – July 17 @ 3:30 pm

From food webs to habitats, there’s so much for us to explore about nature, from a garden to a backyard, to a park or to a jungle! We’ll learn about plant and animal senses and adaptations, and study the needs of living things to help us understand nature all around us and how to care for it!

July 20 @ 9:00 am – July 24 @ 3:30 pm

Learn what it takes to explore space, from understanding gravity to visiting new planets! Explore the solar system like never before by making models of star cores, craters, and more. Study phases of the moon and become a rocket scientist, and learn how astronauts and engineers plan for the extreme environment of space.

July 27 @ 9:00 am – July 31 @ 3:30 pm

Engage in the Engineering Design Process and explore all of the things you can make to solve problems in your everyday life. From things that make our lives easier to amazing machines that can take a simple task and make it spectacular, engineering gives us the tools to make life great!

Bonus activities for the week will include food science to help us learn how cooking and baking can be similar to engineering and rely on engineers!

August 3 @ 9:00 am – August 7 @ 3:30 pm

Live the life of a physicist, practicing everything from flight challenges and simple machines to computer programming and learning how to test the laws of motion. We’ll show you the basics and help you design your own experiments, projects, and products.

August 10 @ 9:00 am – August 14 @ 3:30 pm

Join us for a week of STEAM fun, from chemistry chaos, to light and sound, to spy science fun! We’ll make slime and the ultimate bubble mix, experiment with light and sound waves, and learn how to create codes and gadgets to help you become a super sleuth.
