We are happy to provide STEM programs that support many Badge, Pin, and Belt Loop requirements. In addition to fun experiences designed to engage your group in hands-on learning, your Scouts can receive a special Discovery Museum Patch! Bring your troop for an overnight visit to The Discovery Museum for a fun night of awesome science! Overnights can include a planetarium show, science demonstrations, movies, badge activities, and time to explore the Museum after hours! Customize your program for your troop’s interests and badge goals.

Scout Challenger Center Missions

Give your troop an unforgettable experience in a simulated space mission in our Challenger Center! Challenger Missions promote scientific understanding, teamwork, and creative thinking. Zoo in the Sky

Saturday, April 25, 2020, 9 AM-10:30 AM (Register by April 17th)

When you look up in the night sky, what do you see? There’s an entire animal kingdom playing in the stars! Come learn how to play connect the dots with the stars to find all kinds of creatures in the sky! Make your own constellation to take home and see the night sky in our planetarium. Calling all young astronomers! Spend the morning at the Museum under the starry dome of our Planetarium, and learn about the planets and stars. Observe some real astronauts in space and help them with their microgravity experiments about the space shuttle. Discovery Astronomy Night

Crime Lab

Put your sleuth skills to the test! We will break codes to understand secret messages, read invisible ink, and identify mystery substances. Challenger Mission: Moon

Friday, November 15, 2019 (Register by November 12th)

The year is 2040. Your mission: send a crew of astronauts to the Moon and establish a permanent colony. Astronauts aboard the spacecraft and scientists in mission control must work together to repair a probe, analyze lunar samples, and establish a lunar base wile communicating effectively and protecting the health and safety of the crew. Blast Off! Rocket Design Workshop

Saturday, February 8, 2020, 9 AM – 12 PM (Register by January 31, 2020)

3…2…1…Blast off! In teams, Juniors and Cadettes will receive a budget and learn how to balance it and write checks. They will use their budget to purchase materials for their rocket design, which they will then launch to test. We will use the Engineering Design Process to plan, build, evaluate, and redesign rockets for optimal launch. Fee includes planetarium show and Museum patch.
