Membership FAQs
What is the difference between a Basic Membership and All-Access Membership?
Basic membership includes general admission to the exhibits, but does not include a media pass. Media passes provide access to special presentations such as planetarium shows and live science demonstrations. With a Basic membership, you will still need to purchase a media pass for each member of your party on each visit when you wish to see special presentations. All-Access membership includes general admission to the exhibits, plus unlimited media passes for the guests covered by your membership. You do not need to purchase a media pass for anyone who is visiting as part of your All-Access membership.
Can I use my Discovery Museum membership to get into other museums for free?
Yes! Family and grandparent memberships at Discovery Museum offer you free or discounted admission to over 300 science centers across the United States. Click here for more information about the ASTC Travel Passport Program. Click here for a list of participating ASTC institutions. *Note: some ASTC science centers and museum within a 90-mile radius of the Discovery Museum are excluded. Please call ahead to verify.
I have an Individual Membership. Can I sign my (any child) up for summer programs and receive a discount?
Unfortunately, discounts on children's programs (weekend workshops, summer, and after school), and children's birthday parties are NOT included as a benefit of an Individual Membership.  These discounts are available with Family, Family Plus, and Grandparent Memberships.
We have a Family Membership and my parents (grandparent, nanny, etc..) would like to take the children to the museum, but neither cardholder will be present. Can they just use our membership card?
At least ONE cardholder must be present in order to use the membership card for admission. You may Add A Guest/Nanny to your membership for an additional yearly fee, and then your card may be used by an additional adult. Also, Grandparent Memberships make great gifts!
We have a Family Membership and my kids want to bring a friend. Can we bring guests?
As long as ONE cardholder is present, admission will be granted to an additional adult and up to 4 children. If you have a large or extended family, you may want to consider a Family Plus Membership.
We are considering the Family Membership. What if my spouse wants to take the kids to the museum, but I (the cardholder) am not available to join them?
Up to 2 names can be designated as cardholder on the membership card. Only 1 designated cardholder must be present in order to use it.
Where are you located?
We are located in Bridgeport, Connecticut at 4450 Park Avenue in Veteran's Memorial Park.  Right up the road from Sacred Heart University, and easy to reach from the Merritt Parkway and I-95 - click here for directions!

The Museum does NOT supply refrigeration for lunches. Please use the following guidelines to help you with your planning:
  • Lunch bookings are available in 30-minute blocks
  • Bag lunches for the class must be placed in boxes or large bags
  • Picnic grounds are available on warm days
What do you do in the event of bad weather?
If you must cancel your visit due to inclement weather, please contact us as soon as possible at (203) 372-3521 x117 and leave a message if outside of regular business hours. Refunds are issued if your school or the Museum is closed or has a delayed opening due to inclement weather that causes you to miss your scheduled booking.
What if I have to cancel?
To avoid unwanted charges, all changes MUST be called in to the STEM Learning Programs office no later than 48 hours prior to your visit. Refunds for reduced headcounts will only be issued if a minimum of 48 hours’ advance notice of change in attendance is given. Refunds or, where possible, options to reschedule are issued if your school or the Museum is closed or has a delayed opening due to bad weather. Cancellations without proper notice are not refundable.
What are your payment procedures?
Program fees may be paid by check of major credit card. Invoices will be issued to organizations that supply a valid purchase order. Purchase orders should reference the date of visit, reservation number, program description, and should be sent directly to the attention of Robin Keller in the STEM Learning Programs Department at least two (2) weeks before the program date. Please make all checks or money orders payable to The Discovery Museum, Inc. If you would like to pay by credit card, please call our Front Desk Team at (203) 372-3521 x125.

Adults, including teachers, chaperones, and group leaders, are responsible for the actions of their group at The Discovery Museum.
What is your reservation procedure?
Group reservations must be made at least 3 weeks in advance. Written confirmation will be sent by email or fax. Please review the confirmation information.
