UPDATE: Science On a Sphere® (SOS) is fully installed, and operational. Our staff here at Discovery Museum has been training all week and working with a team from NOAA to align, configure, and complete setup of our new exhibit. SOS will be fully operational at Space Day on Saturday, April 2nd so that the public can get a first look at this dynamic new experience.
This week we are installing an exciting new educational experience here at Discovery Museum, Science On a Sphere® (SOS).
SOS is a room sized system that uses computers and video projectors to display planetary data onto a giant animated sphere (six foot diameter). Researchers at NOAA developed Science On a Sphere® as an educational tool to help illustrate Earth System science to people of all ages. Discovery Museum’s SOS will open in time for Space Day on Saturday, April 2.
This week, our exhibits crew, staff from NOAA and contractors are working together to get our sphere in place, align and configure our projectors and computer systems, and to complete our staff training so that we can share Science On a Sphere® (SOS) presentations with all of our guests on Saturday.
